SUMMARY:Black Bottom Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Black Bottom Film Festival (BBFF) presented by Citizens stands as a radiant beacon with the 6th annual festival week. It serves as a vibrant experience that illuminates and celebrates the rich tapestry of African American cinema. From timeless classics that have stood the test of time to championing independent works\, BBFF showcases a diverse array of films that encapsulate the essence of Black life. These films delve into profound themes such as spirituality\, race\, familial strife\, honor\, duty\, and the relentless struggles of the working-class – themes that resonate deeply with the narratives found in August Wilson’s American Century Cycle plays. Furthermore\, BBFF pays homage to the trailblazers of African American cinema\, those who pioneered the way and carved out space for future generations. It serves as a testament to the enduring legacy of those who dared to dream and create in an industry that often sought to suppress their voices. This festival is not just a celebration of cinema; it is a vital platform for dialogue\, reflection\, and a deeper understanding of how Black filmmakers wield the power of art to inspire\, challenge\, confront\, and reshape American culture itself. BBFF is a dynamic celebration of reclamation\, a testament to the indomitable spirit of Black artists who represent a vibrant expression of the ongoing Black Renaissance\, where every film screened is a reaffirmation of our right to tell our own stories\, and a testament to the unyielding resilience of Black creativity. \nWe encourage purchasing a full weekend pass here\, however\, single day passes are available: \n3-Day VIP Pass | $85 | Access to all films\, workshops\, panels\, and receptions each day with VIP tote bage and two (2) drink vouchers \n3-Day Regular Pass | $60 | Access to all films\, workshops\, panels\, and receptions each day \nSingle passes grant access to any films\, workshop(s)\, panel(s)\, and reception(s) scheduled that date.\nFriday Reception $20 | Saturday Pass $30 | Sunday Pass $30 | \nAWAACC is providing 100 free tickets to students each day!
