SUMMARY:Home in The Writer's Landscape: Envisioning a Just Pittsburgh Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a guided tour of August Wilson: The Writer’s Landscape\, followed by a conversation with actor\, playwright\, and historian Wali Jamal. Moving through “The Coffee Shop\,” “The Office\,” and “The Street\,” participants will consider how the people and places of Pittsburgh shaped August Wilson’s creative life and the American Century Cycle. \nConnecting to this year’s theme: Home \nThe program connects with the 2026-27 Envisioning a Just Pittsburgh call for art theme\, Home\, by inviting participants to reflect on belonging\, memory\, migration\, neighborhood\, and the ways art can help imagine Pittsburgh as a place where everyone can live and thrive. The conversation will encourage artists to draw on lived experience and the places and relationships that help create a sense of home. Explore the 2026-27 Envisioning a Just Pittsburgh Call for Art: Home \nAbout August Wilson: The Writer’s Landscape \nThe Writer’s Landscape is the first permanent exhibition dedicated to August Wilson’s life and work.
