Grant Manager
The August Wilson African American Cultural Center is located at the gateway of the Cultural District of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Center, named for Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, and Pittsburgh native, August Wilson, showcases nationally and internationally renowned performing and visual artists, as well as supports and nurtures the burgeoning local arts community. This programming connects the entire community to the rich, substantive artistic content that reflects the African Diaspora.
The August Wilson African American Cultural Center offers multiple exhibition galleries, a 492-seat theater for performances in all genres, multipurpose spaces for classes, lectures and hands-on learning, community programs and events. The Center is housed in an iconic building designed by award winning architect, Alison Williams. Offering the community, a distinctive mix of cultural spaces as well as a rehearsal studio, sweeping walkways and ample community gathering and meeting spaces, this bold facility serves as a true “center,” a place of coming together where all manner of art, artistic expression and community conversation are welcomed and encouraged.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The August Wilson African American Cultural Center (AWAACC) is seeking an experienced Grant Manager to manage all facets of the organization’s grant and proposal processes, including writing proposals and outcome reports. The Grant Manager is a key role on the AWAACC development team, and on the AWAACC team overall, as its work will directly impact funding initiatives for general operations and programming for the organization. This position will also be responsible for managing tracking and reporting on outcomes as desired by funders. Support effective evaluation, grants administration and reporting relating to AWAACC programs and corporate, foundation, and government grants.
The Grant Manager will proactively and aggressively seek out institutional funding opportunities and generate awards; to research and write successful grant proposals; to work collaboratively to identify and develop fundable programming; to manage and provide stewardship for AWAACC relationships with all sources of corporate, foundation, and government funding. Coordinate all aspects of development and administration of surveys and grant proposals working at the direction of the Vice President, Institutional Advancement; support all grant award reporting requirements. Support development and execution of concepts for funding proposals which align with the strategic priorities of the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Experienced, compelling grant writing, and grants administration.
- Research various types of grants available and the criteria to qualify for each, prepare recommendations for grant opportunities.
- Work closely with VP, Institutional Advancement to draft and complete grant applications and reports.
- Coordinate with other departments to gather program data and information for reporting.
- Manage, update grants calendar to ensure timely submission of applications and reports.
- Conduct prospect research to expand grants portfolio.
- Complete relevant grant forms, documents, and outcome reports.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Maintains database and master files on grants and paperwork.
- Manage the entry of grant information into the database and capture/record key grant details as needed.
- Create regular reports on grant application/reporting deadlines, finances, and prospects.
- Helps with monthly financial reconciliation process and monitors grants revenue against budget projections.
CORE QUALIFICATIONS
- Understanding of August Wilson African American Cultural Center’s and ability to articulate through compelling narrative.
- Organized, and detail oriented.
- Self-motivated team player, with strong organizational and communication skills.
EDUCATION /EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree required, however, extensive, successful experience in grant writing will be considered in lieu of degree.
- Minimum of 3-5 Grant Writing Experience
- Experience using CRM database such as Raiser’s Edge, Tessitura, or Salesforce
- At least 3 years of office work experience in a related professional setting, preferably in fundraising, program management, and/or nonprofit environment.
- Competency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with prospect research tools, Wealth Engine, iWave, or Raiser’s Edge NXT preferred but not required.
