The Youth Writers Camp is an inspiring and creative space for middle and high school students passionate about writing. This four-week camp provides an opportunity to explore various forms of writing, from poetry and plays to short stories and songwriting, while connecting with contemporary issues like social justice and the literary legacy of August Wilson. Through discussions, reading, writing, and sharing, students will express themselves freely in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Led by accomplished teaching artists Carla Rae Knight and Dionna Westry Spencer, the 4 week, virtual camp promises to offer a dynamic and enriching experience for young writers to hone their craft and deepen their understanding of the world around them.
The camp culminates in an exciting in-person performance and reception, where students will have the opportunity to showcase their work and celebrate their creative achievements.
Registration is recommended for all 4 weeks of camp, although students may sign up for individual sessions. Registration may be concluded early at the discretion of camp staff.
Additional details on the curriculum will be provided soon.
