Fifteen years ago, our iconic, symbolic building opened its doors to the public in the Cultural District of Pittsburgh, PA. Today, we are one of the largest Black multi-disciplinary arts centers in the country! Some of the greatest artists of our time have graced our stage and their artwork has lined our gallery walls.
NOW, we are asking YOU — our community and valued partners — to invest in our future. Together, we will lay the groundwork to ensure our Center continues to be a resource and beacon of inspiration for all.
We have set an ambitious goal to raise $500,000 to FUEL THE FUTURE of the August Wilson African American Cultural Center.
As of April 27, 2025, we are 20% of the way to this goal. Your gift of any size can make a difference.
WE ENVISION A FUTURE for AWAACC where art and culture are both created and celebrated. We seek to inspire the imaginations of future generations of artists and arts lovers, in Pittsburgh and across the nation.
YOUR CONTRIBUTION WILL:
- PROVIDE free programs that invite everyone to experience art, storytelling, and exchange around the rich culture of the African American experience and the African diaspora.
- ENGAGE & INSPIRE school-aged children in our region with access to world-class visual, performing, and literary arts.
- ESTABLISH reserve funds to maintain AWAACC as a source for culture, community, and connection for the future.
