Development and Prospect Research Coordinator

The August Wilson African American Cultural Center is located at the gateway of the Cultural District of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  The Center, named for Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, and Pittsburgh native, August Wilson, showcases nationally and internationally renowned performing and visual artists, as well as supports and nurtures the burgeoning local arts community. This programming connects the entire community to the rich, substantive artistic content that reflects the African Diaspora.   The August Wilson African American Cultural Center offers multiple exhibition galleries, a 492-seat theater for performances in all genres, multipurpose spaces for classes, lectures and hands-on learning, community programs and events. The Center is housed in an iconic building designed by award winning architect, Alison Williams.  Offering the community, a distinctive mix of cultural spaces as well as a rehearsal studio, sweeping walkways and ample community gathering and meeting spaces, this bold facility serves as a true “center,” a place of coming together where all manner of art, artistic expression and community conversation are welcomed and encouraged.      

POSITION OVERVIEW:

August Wilson African American Cultural Center (AWAACC) is seeking a knowledgeable Development

Operations Coordinator to join our growing Development team. This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Development and supports the Vice President of Institutional Advancement as needed. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their fundraising career. It’s essential that the candidate is mission focused, proactive in response, and an action-oriented colleague, with a passion for details.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Gift Processing, updating donor and gift records in CRM Tessitura database
  • Maintain accuracy of database, actively updating all donor records when necessary
  • With guidance from Senior Manager of Development, oversee all donor acknowledgements and organizational acknowledgement process, sending timely gift receipts, including annual tax letters
  • Manage benefit fulfillment under guidance of Sr. Manager of Development
  • General online donor support, including responding to notices for failed or attempted donations, and responses to general inquiries as they arise
  • Support individual donor prospecting using iWave platform, developing clear profiles of all prospects in Tessitura, and surfacing recommendations
  • Plan and manage Prospect Relationship Meetings for senior leadership and board as needed (frequency will be determined)
  • Provide support for email development, editing and campaign implementation
  • Track outputs in Tessitura to support Grants Manager as needed
  • Provide general administrative support to development team, procedural documents, and other ad-hoc documentation
  • Carry out system maintenance, with record review and necessary data entry
  • Support Cultivation Events and Stewardship Associate as needed
  • Attend cultivation and other AWAACC program activities
  • Speak with donors as needed

CORE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to quickly learn new software and assist others in using it
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to ask for guidance while at the same time accepting constructive criticism

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)
  • One to three (1-3) years of experience working in a not-for-profit development department
  • Familiarity with Tessitura, Blackbaud or RE preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Background in organizing, scheduling, and/or data entry preferred
  • Skilled with Customer Service

Salary: $40k-$50k
