Manager of Ticketing and Box Office Operations

The August Wilson African American Cultural Center is located at the gateway of the Cultural District of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Center, named for Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, and Pittsburgh native, August Wilson, showcases nationally and internationally renowned performing and visual artists, as well as supports and nurtures the burgeoning local arts community. This programming connects the entire community to the rich, substantive artistic content that reflects the African Diaspora.

The August Wilson African American Cultural Center offers multiple exhibition galleries, a 492-seat theater for performances in all genres, multipurpose spaces for classes, lectures and hands-on learning, community programs and events. The Center is housed in an iconic building designed by award winning architect, Alison Williams.  Offering the community, a distinctive mix of cultural spaces as well as a rehearsal studio, sweeping walkways and ample community gathering and meeting spaces, this bold facility serves as a true “center,” a place of coming together where all manner of art, artistic expression and community conversation are welcomed and encouraged.

The Manager of Ticketing and Box Office Operations oversees all ticketing, group sales, box office management and assists with guest services.  This role manages single ticket sales, group sales, reporting, and patron services to ensure exceptional customer service.  Working in collaboration with development and marketing, the Manager plays a key role in revenue generation and audience development.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities will include:

  • Event creation and maintenance
  • Coordinate with promoters and presenters on all aspects of building back-end support for an event, including pricing, zoning of the house, determining holds and building webpages.
  • Continued training and monitoring of Tessitura ticketing software
  • Work collaboratively with Marketing and Development to design strategic on-sale processes for all ticketed programs that support fundraising and audience development priorities.
  • Execute event audits for post-performance settlements
  • Manage database updates and system communications
  • Lead group sales efforts, with support from the Marketing and Community Engagement teams.
  • Manage complimentary, VIP, sponsor, education and staff ticket allocations
  • Act as a liaison with box office partners and venue staff
  • Coordinate with the ISTS department to implement new software-testing the software and training box office and ticketing staff
  • Train box office staff and other responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in box office customer service or similar environment required.
  • Experience with Tessitura required
  • Bachelor’s degree-Technology, Communications, Marketing, sales related field preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
