AWCommunity Day: S.T.E.A.M. Family Day

AWCommunity S.T.E.A.M. Family Day will bring family friendly S.T.E.A.M activities to Liberty Avenue with FREE outside activities for all ages from 12:00 to 4:00 pm.  Carnegie Science Center, MAD Science Lab, STEM Coding Lab, YWCA STEAM Program, and Pitt CEC-Hill District activations will get all ages excited about S.T.E.A.M. futures.  Lawn games, food vendors, artist market, face painting, free farmers market provided by Black Urban Gardeners B.U.G.*, sweet treats by Cobbler World, coffee pop up by ADDA coffee, and free S.T.E.A.M. themed book for each child in partnership with White Whale Bookstore. *while supplies last.  Come enjoy a day of free family fun and learning at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center with performances by Palenique Dance from Slippery Rock University, Anyah Nancy band, ROYCE, and more.  Presented by UPMC and UPMC Health Plan, The Pittsburgh Foundation, PPG Foundation.

Following AWCommunity Day S.T.E.A.M. Family Day, go inside the AWAACC Theater for a ticketed performance by Mae Jemison at 5pm. An American engineer, physician, and former NASA astronaut, Mae Jemison became the first Black woman to travel into space when she serves as a mission specialist aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour.
