The August Wilson African American Cultural Center (AWAACC) welcomes visitors for the Gallery Crawl in the Cultural District, presented by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust—an evening celebrating art, music, and creative expression across downtown Pittsburgh. This event is free and open to the public. No RSVP required.

Guests can explore two extraordinary exhibitions on view inside the Center:

Picture This

Presented in partnership with Age-Friendly Greater Pittsburgh and Casey Droege Cultural Productions, Picture This captures the power of intergenerational connection and storytelling through photography. The exhibition shares portraits and narratives of Pittsburgh-area residents who bridge generations through creativity, compassion, and community.

Lavett Ballard: A Rose is a Rose is a Rose

A major solo exhibition by acclaimed mixed-media artist Lavett Ballard, this show reclaims and reimagines images of Black womanhood through layered collage, texture, and symbolism. Ballard transforms historical photographs into powerful visual testaments of identity, resilience, and grace—revealing how art can both preserve and rewrite history.
