See the Galleries in a New Light

Step into an evening that transforms the way you experience art. The August Wilson African American Cultural Center invites you to an after-hours Flashlight Tour, where galleries glow, stories come alive, and discovery awaits around every corner.

Begin the night with a reception from 7 to 8 PM, featuring autumn-inspired drinks and hors d’oeuvres (cash bar). Guided tours begin promptly at 8 PM: Actor Wali Jamal will illuminate August Wilson: The Writer’s Landscape, Curator Kimberley Jacobs will guide guests through Determined to Be: The Sculpture of John Rhoden and Lavett Ballard: A Rose is A Rose, and Curatorial Fellow Caleb A. Smith will lead Being/Seen. Explore the Teenie Harris Archives for an intimate look at one of Pittsburgh’s most treasured photographic legacies.

This is your final chance to experience Determined to Be: The Sculpture of John Rhoden and Being/Seen before they close. Each guest will receive an AWAACC-branded flashlight to use during the tour and take home as a keepsake.

Registration is required, and a $10 suggested donation is asked to support the Center. Curated by Marketing Fellow Sandrah Nasimiyu, this is an evening of art, light, and conversation you won’t forget.

Arrive early to savor every moment the tours begin promptly at 8 PM.

*Determined to Be: The Sculpture of John Rhoden is organized by the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
