Greetings Exhibition Opening

Greetings is an art exhibition + film screening exploring how a gesture created among Black G.I.s during the Vietnam War evolved into one of the most recognizable expressions of identity and belonging in Black culture: the DAP handshake.

The exhibition features:

1. An original photography series documenting the DAP across generations of the black community
2. Research materials around the DAP and its origins
3. An immersive eclectic living room/archive environment inspired by the many eras in which the gesture emerged and grew into from the 60s-Present day culture.
4. Visitors will also experience the pilot episode of Greetings: Archive OPS, a scripted spy-thriller-drama series inspired by the history and cultural impact of the DAP. The story follows four friends recruited by a covert organization founded by Vietnam veterans and tasked with uncovering a conspiracy that has shaped their lives.
5. A DJ and curated soundscape, setting the tone throughout the evening
6. Light refreshments, keeping the experience social and lively (Drink bar)
