Maura Cheeks joins LIT Friday to discuss Acts of Forgiveness.

Lit Fridays is a literary-focused, virtual salon presented by the August Wilson African American Cultural Center, featuring conversations and guest performances on the last Friday* of each month at 6:00p EST via Facebook and YouTube Live. All conversations are moderated by AWAACC Literary Curator, Jessica Lanay.


Maura Cheeks is the author of ACTS OF FORGIVENESS which received a starred review from Publishers Weekly. Her other work has been published in the Paris Review, The New York Times, The Atlantic, Harvard Business Review, Tin House, and others. In 2018 she was selected to attend Tin House’s Winter Workshop and was one of seven people selected to attend Jamel Brinkley’s Tin House Craft Intensive. In 2019 she was awarded the Masthead Reporting Residency for The Atlantic’s first residency program where she worked on the feature article that would later inspire the idea for her novel. Maura graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and received a certificate in publishing from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. She also holds her MBA from NYU.
