Lit Fridays is a literary-focused, virtual salon presented by the August Wilson African American Cultural Center, featuring conversations and guest performances on the last Friday* of each month at 6:00p EST via Facebook Live and Zoom Webinar. All conversations are moderated by AWAACC Literary Curator, Jessica Lanay.

About Jonathan Escoffery

Jonathan Escoffery is the author of the critically acclaimed debut story collection If I Survive You(Farrar, Straus & Giroux),a September2022 IndieNext Pick, also named a Best Book of September byAmazon and Apple Books.His next book is the forthcomingnovel,Play Stone Kill Bird.Both books will be publishedin the UK andCommonwealth by 4th Estate Books, in Canada by McClelland andStewart, and will be published in translation in France by Albin Michel and in Germany by Piper Verlag.

Escoffery is the winner of The Paris Review’s2020Plimpton Prize for fiction and is the recipient of a 2020 National Endowment for the Arts(Prose) Literature Fellowship. His story “Under the Ackee Tree” was among the trio that won the Paris Review the 2020 ASME Award for Fiction from the American Society of Magazine Editors, and wassubsequently included inThe Best American MagazineWriting 2020.His most recent stories have appeared inThe ParisReview, ElectricLiterature’sRecommended Reading,Zyzzyva andAmericanShortFiction.
