Join us for this month’s Storytime Spotlight featuring Meghana Dodda’s There is Color Everywhere, read by Cathryn Calhoun and Keah Adams, from our Education and Community Engagement Department.

Storytime Spotlight is an educational series presented by the August Wilson African American Cultural Center that introduces young children to books that features stories, songs, rhymes, and fingerplays. This series highlights Black and Brown children’s book authors and will feature conversations and a live reading with the author.

Meghana Dodda won first place in the Video/Interdisciplinary Art category of the 2024 Envisioning a Just Pittsburgh call for art with their work “There is Color Everywhere”. “There is Color Everywhere” is a children’s book that invites readers of all ages to reflect on how kindness and courage can create a brighter, more equitable world. Join Reci, a curious and adventurous rat in the bustling city of Pittsburgh, as she fights against racism by educating readers about the significance of racial equity. Inspired by the principles of the Racial Equity Consciousness Institute (“RECI”), Reci teaches us about the importance of empathy, fairness, and embracing the many colors of the world around us.
