Youth Writers Camp

Analyzing the August Wilson play, Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, students will produce original writing surrounding the topics of self-identification/self-realization. The play, set in the post Great Migration years, shows how the main characters work hard to establish new and stable lives. Students will use the play to deepen their understanding of things that may cause an individual to be able to, or unable to establish a sense of self- awareness. Students will reflect on their own purpose/values/ and self-identify to further deepen their understanding of self.
